I am based in Wimbledon and mainly cover West London including Wandsworth, Teddington, St Margarets, Twickenham, Kew, Barnes, Chiswick and Kensington & Chelsea. I also cover most of Surrey, Central London, Greenwich and many other locations. From time to time I am happy to travel further afield in the UK and beyond; and had family sessions in various European countries; so please get in touch to discuss your location ideas.
I do not have a studio and I only hire photographic studios for commercial projects. I shoot lifestyle sessions on location: your home or somewhere you love to spend time. That could be your local park, out in the countryside or along the river. Couples often like to have their engagement shoot in the place they met. I want to capture real memories for you in meaningful settings.
Yes! I sell a limited number of gift vouchers each year. These can be fantastic and memorable presents for birthdays, Mother’s Day and Christmas. The vouchers are valid for 6 months. I can post the personalised gift voucher to your address or alternatively send it electronically for you to print it at your convenience. You can purchase a gift voucher for any amount, however I recommend to give a voucher which covers the photo session in full.
Absolutely! I love meeting families from all over the world and helping them to create happy memories of their time in the UK. I have many location ideas and would be happy to incorporate yours as well.
As soon as you know you want to have a photo shoot with me. I want to provide the very best service, so I take on a limited number of sessions each month. For newborn sessions, I advise you book after your 20 week scan and for maternity sessions for when you are between 30-36 weeks gestation.
My sessions are very relaxed and informal. The most important thing is that everyone has fun and feels comfortable. My family photo sessions aim to capture babies, children and families enjoying being together and being themselves. During the session I will find the balance between directing and natural events, which will be different with all families. I believe in silly jokes, surprises and those moments when kids think that no one is looking.
While I love some of the images of perfectly posed newborn babies, the aim of my newborn sessions is to capture the connection between the family members and the happiness and joy that the little one brings to the family. Therefore the emphasis will be on capturing connection rather than posing babies into perfect poses.
My biggest tip in preparing for a photo shoot is to relax. The less pressure you put on yourself, and your family, to get ‘perfect shots’ – the more likely we are to get them. I will send you plenty of information before the shoot with tips on how to prepare and we will also have a chat over the phone to go through any questions and ideas that you have.
Children are unpredictable and it is my job to be ready for anything. As a mom of three children I had plenty of practice and I have a few tricks up my sleeves. One thing I ask in this situation is that I can photograph your child/ children alone so they can just focus on me and my silly jokes. It usually works.
It is important to be yourself and feel comfortable; but I do recommend that you think about the colours of the clothes and how they work with the backgrounds we are shooting against. A good and simple rule is to coordinate but not match. For young babies I prefer simple items like vests but for toddlers and older children, feel free to play around with patterns, layers and accessories. There will be more tips for what to wear in my pre-session guide and we will also have time on the day to talk through wardrobe ideas.
Please do not worry if you, your partner or your children are camera shy. It is totally normal – I even feel the same way myself. I will spend some time getting to know you all better before I pull out my camera, and it will feel more like a play date with a friend, rather than a formal photo shoot. You won’t even have to look at the camera if you don’t want to. I want to capture natural and authentic moments, so just focus on having fun with your family and I will capture it all as it happens.
The shoot can take place in your home or outside, somewhere you enjoy spending time. I have photographed families in parks, out in the countryside, by the river and also in Central London. I am also happy to include both outdoors and indoors if you want to mix things up a bit, although I do suggest choosing somewhere close by.
Most sessions take about 2 hours – although I don’t work to a strict time limit. If you would like to be photographed at two locations (e.g. your home and a local park) it may take a bit longer. For newborn sessions, please set aside 3-4 hours. I always include time for feeding and comforting for younger babies, and snacks and a rest from the camera for older toddlers and children.
In the lead up to your shoot I will keep a close eye on the weather forecast. If it looks to be wet we can change the location to your home and stay warm and dry indoors; or we can re-schedule for another date. Please do not worry if the day turns out to be grey and cloudy, overcast skies produce beautiful soft light which is very flattering.
Absolutely, it’s important that we get your baby or child is at their best in order to capture happy and joyful images. I am happy to offer one re-schedule free of charge due to illness.
I will post a preview image on my Facebook page a few days after the session; and your images will be ready approximately in two weeks. I will send you a link to your gallery; and you will be able to download the full resolution images just by clicking on the link.
Your gallery will consist of a minimum of 30 fully edited and lightly retouched photographs.
Yes of course. Your gallery will be available from the ‘client’ area of my website. You will get a password to access the gallery and another to download the images. The images can be downloaded in high resolution (6000 px wide) as well as web size versions (1024 px wide). The high resolution files can be used to print photos up to poster size canvases and are more than sufficient for web use. The web sized images are much smaller and therefore are faster to download and upload. They are ideal for sharing on Social Media or for quick viewing. You will be able to send the link with the passwords to your friends and family as you wish.
Yes, I will re-touch your final selected photographs to clean up any dirt and dribbles. On request I will also retouch temporary marks like chicken pox, rashes, bumps etc. Please note that it is important for me to capture natural images and I do not heavily retouch lifestyle photographs. Please discuss your requests regarding this before the session.
Yes, my client gallery is linked to my favourite professional printing lab and you will be able to directly purchase prints, canvas, metal and mounted prints.
